Audiobooks & Studio Manager

My Role at Audio Always

I joined the team in April 2023, originally starting as a Studio Engineer and Editor. Today, as Studio Manager, I oversee the technical heartbeat of our operations across both our Manchester and London locations.

My day-to-day involves managing studio bookings and ensuring every session, whether it’s a global podcast or a commercial record, has the technical support it needs to sound world-class. I also manage our brilliant team of freelance engineers and editors, whilst heading up our Audiobook department, looking after those projects from the initial recording right through to the final master.

My Journey to the Studio

I knew early on (around age 16!) that I wanted to work in audio. I spent my university years and the time immediately after as an Assistant Producer for Capital Manchester and a presenter on XS Manchester.

Before landing at Audio Always, I spent time as an Audio Editor at PHMG, where I honed my technical craft alongside some of the best mix engineers in the industry. I also balanced this with freelance work for the BBC, producing and editing factual podcasts. I’d always admired the work Audio Always was doing in the podcast space, and after keeping in touch with the team, I found the perfect opening to join the family and eventually progress into studio management.

The Highlights So Far

I love being hands-on with the physical evolution of our spaces. One of my proudest moments was helping move Audio Always into our brand-new Manchester studios and office. I also help the team on technical set design for some of our biggest visual podcasts, including: Joe and James Fact Up, The Girls Bathroom and our various branded commissions.

Beyond the sets, I’ve had the privilege of working on audiobooks for icons like Johnny Marr, Freddie Flintoff, Jimmy Anderson, and Tulisa, as well as working on major projects like SoccerAid, the TT Podcast, and editing trails for Jamie Laing’s Radio 1 Comic Relief Challenge.
