Saving Planet Earth

February 7, 2024

We are all inundated with examples of how climate change is affecting our planet. Often these stories focus on the negative impact it will have and the devastation it is causing. But how is this narrative affecting our children?

A recent Save The Children study has shown that climate anxiety is rising in children, with 70% of 12-18 year olds worried about the world they are inheriting. As Children’s Mental Health Week launches on Monday 5th February, we’re introducing a new family podcast to help understand and suggest ways of coping / reducing that anxiety.

Children’s presenter James Stewart is a climate change graduate and a member of Harvard Climate Creators. In Saving Planet Earth, James tackles this climate anxiety by introducing children, young adults and their families to the solutions science is trialling across the globe – right now!

Each of the eight episodes brings together some of the most eminent scientists in the world, along with celebrity guests who share a passion and interest in saving our planet. Guests including Nathalie Emmanuel, Shailene Woodley, Jim Chapman and Radzi Chinyanganya join forces with scientists from across the globe who are working on exciting and tangible solutions to some of the planet’s most pressing climate problems.

James addresses some of the audience’s climate fears whilst offering reassurance because whilst these problems are very real – there are people in the world working on solutions that will make a difference. With fun explanations and easy to understand language, James shines a light on some of the world’s biggest ideas and the impact they could have.

From building boats out of old flip flops to dolphin poo being a solution to the demise of coral reefs, there are people trying to save the planet with wild and wonderful ideas. Saving Planet Earth takes a closer look at exactly how they work, the people behind them and the hopes for making a better future.
